Raising spirits litter

Bonnie and Winston spend some quality time together in late April and Bonnie  becomes mama on Friday, June 28 2024. She give birth to 13 puppies, 4 girls and 9 boys of which 7 were black and 6 were party and multicolored. Long before they were born we decided to give them names of spirits as whiskey, wines or liquor. Bourbon, Johnnie Walker, Jack Daniel’s, Jameson, Jim Beam, Patron, Bacardi, Lemoncelo, Amaretto, Martini, Kahlua, Pignot Noir and Sangria. Week before the delivery, we took Bonnie to the vet to prep ourselves for the big event as much as possible. The vet told us that she is expecting 9 puppies, but Bonnie said no, no, no mommy, surprise, I got more!

The first born was Bourbon a white puppy with touch of black, and the last born was Amaretto, brown black tiny merle puppy. Between Bourbon and Amaretto comes brothers J; Johnnie Walker, Jack Daniel’s and Jameson, all completely black boys, Sangria and Pignot Noir, the completely black girls, one tiny like a kitten the other one big just like her mama. Patron and Jim Beam were both spitting image of Winston except black, Patron having white markings on his chest and his jaws and one can always spot Jim Beam among the 13 bunch cause of his white paws like Winston. Martini a tiny white and gray girl and Kalhua who’s spitting image of Bonnie as a baby.

13 puppies and there comes the challenge, Bonnie could have nurse max 10 puppies at once, so we split them in batches making sure they all got warm and fed properly. Bonnie didn’t leave her new home for days, tending to her babies she was such a loving mommy while the babies were such a quiet bunch, tucked under her body sleeping like they were smiling at the world.

I can tell you a thousend stories about each of them growing in our home, but then the best memories were never pictured or videos, they are imprinted in our hearts for every one of the babies. We love and enjoy each puppy and we care for them as they were meant to stay with us. In the end we were blessed to find great people and they all went home to a loving families who adores them as precious little things they truly are. Last one to go was Patron who was born the smallest of the black boys. He stayed with us almost half a year and the separation come hard for me cause he was my mama boy.

All of our adoptive parents are very satisfied with our puppies however some didn’t want their pictures published and we respect their decisions. In the few months we raised Bonnie’s puppies we took hundreds of pictures and videos cause they become objects of our admiration, to us, to our family and to the kids in our neighborhood.
